32 Shar-Pei including eleven puppies seized in a house in the northern districts

It was following a denunciation that the SPA recovered 32 Shar-Pei, some barely a few days old, from a house in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille. After a period of socialization, the dogs are offered for adoption.

A large operation carried out by investigators from the SPA of Marseille, with the police of the North Division and two veterinarians led to the seizure of 51 animals, at the beginning of the summer, in a house, located in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille. , where a woman lived with her six-year-old child, we learned on Tuesday.

Cats, chickens, roosters, parrots, hedgehogs, a turtle… all kinds of animals and 32 dogs. Shar-Pei, including seven puppies, some only a few weeks old.

“The Shar-Pei were in a miserable state, the strongest one was eating from a bowl, the others were waiting, they had fang marks on their ears and body”.

Most of the dogs, very thin, lived without care. “It wasn’t even a garden, it was a courtyard, imagine someone who lives in not even 30 m2 with all that”, explains Xavier Bonnard, the president of the SPA, who was there.

The SPA video reports on the living conditions of these animals, crammed together to live in a small space.

According to Xavier Bonnard, the owner was wild breeding these dogs, to resell them.

The SPA was alerted for abuse and neglect, following a denunciation. “We sent investigators to see what was going on, we made two visits, it was catastrophic”.

Adoption Loans

All non-sterilized dogs have been treated, vaccinated, chipped. To cope with the high costs of this care, the SPA has just set up an online kitty.

“We socialize them because they were in a place where they all lived together, it was hell, we put them back on their feet and then they will be up for adoption, they are magnificent”, says Xavier Bonnard.

Last week, the Marseille court gave the green light. Some of the 32 Shar-Pei are already available for adoption, others are not quite ready, but this should be done soon. Attention, irresistible hairballs…
