On the Place de la République, Charlotte is waiting for her companion, registered as a participant in the event, she says that she then heard a dog howl. “A man with dreadlocks was carrying a stick and hit him repeatedly.”

Another woman also present at the scene confirms that the dog howled in pain.

According to two other testimonies, the same man, most likely the owner of the animal, was seen near the Monoprix store on Wednesday May 25, “in the process of hit his dog and a week before, because, according to the witness, “the dog did not want to pick up his master’s mobile phone which had fallen to the ground”.

Contacted by News Oise, neither the gendarmerie nor the municipal police have received a complaint. The incident has however triggered an outcry on social networks, where many are surprised by the lack of reaction from the many spectators of the race, while the incident occurred in public.

In a similar situation, the canine protection association Vie2chienbased in Séry-Magneval (Oise), recommends to “contact the police who will call an association to take care of the animal”.
