A man takes a dog with cancer to the mountains for a “last adventure” in a wheelbarrow.

A sad story where cancer played a major role in this dog’s life: Unfortunately, there comes a time when we all have to learn to let go of those we love the most, and this hard life lesson was recently experienced by Carlos Fresco with his beloved labradoodle, ten-year-old Monty.

The two friends had been through a lot together, especially over the past year. And as sad as it is the situationCarlos stayed with his beloved dog until his last breath.

Over the past few months, Carlos learned that Monty didn’t have many days left to live. His dog with blood cancer was living his last days, so he decided to leave for one last adventure by his side.

The man has shared his life with his friend since he was just a little pup and since then the couple have had hundreds of adventures across the vast hills of the UK.

Carlos told the Brecon & Radnor Express:

“I knew Monty was dying because his cancer had come back. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and has responded very well to chemotherapy. But unfortunately her leukemia came back eight weeks ago and it got worse very quickly. »

A close friend of Charles, who lives in Brecon, Wales, had a medical condition and had to travel from London to be seen by his doctor. Carlos offered to drop him off and saw the opportunity as a sign of one last fling with Monty, so he took him.

Once in Brecon, they stayed with friends, which gave Carlos and Monty the opportunity to climb to the top of Pen y Fan; it was amazing, many walkers stopped to say hello and meet Monty, and helped him to the top using a wheelbarrow that Carlos had arranged.

Carlos explains as follows:

“He loved walks in the hills and we improvised and took him for a walk around the wonderful lighthouses. Although he was weak, he enjoyed all the commotion and attention from so many well-wishers”.

Monty was very happy to see the beautiful scenery and meet other people along the way. The dog was always characterized by his adorable character and all who approached him were touched by his tender story.

People appreciated Carlos’ gesture so much that they offered to help him push the wheelbarrow to the top of the mountain.

Carlos added:

“The people of the hills were very kind and also saddened by his state of health. In fact, complete strangers asked if they could share pushing Monty on his last trip. »

Sadly, Monty’s health continued to deteriorate during the stay in Brecon, and days later the cancer-stricken dog died alongside his beloved friend and companion.

Carlos commented:

“He hung on until the morning after Father’s Day. I looked over the mattress and he was gone. However, it looked so peaceful and I was happy that we left for one last adventure together”.

After that, Carlos took Monty to his home in London and decided to bury him in his garden, so that he would always feel close to him, because this little angel will always be part of his life.

Finally, the man added:

“This little guy touched so many lives. He made everyone he came in contact with smile and took a moment to reflect on the fact that sometimes life isn’t so bad. Our little companions never judge, they are always there waiting for you and comforting you when things are not going well”.
