In Canada, a dog was rescued and returned safely to his family after falling into a waterfall, reported Cabin Radio Sunday July 31.
The incident took place on Saturday July 30 at the site of the falls ofalexandraa 32 meter waterfall ending on the river Hayin the Northwest Territories.
The alert had been sounded by more than one witness present in this area located on the south shore of Great Slave Lake. These people were, for the most part, on the hiking trail overlooking the falls and the stream.
Robert Chenard is one of them. He posted a plea for help on Facebook, along with a photo showing the canid in question sitting on the rocks by the river. The quadruped appears on the left of the image.
” He is quite alert and cried a lot when he saw me », indicated Robert Chenard in his post. He said he had tried to contact the emergency services, but without result. The man underlined the urgency of the situation: If not rescued quickly, the poor dog will be at the mercy of wildlife “.
” We can’t leave it there. […] The dog needs help “, continues the message, which helped to mobilize the volunteers.
In a video shared by Cabin Radio (screenshots below) the dog is seen venturing into the stream before being snatched by the waterfall and ending up stuck at the base of a cliff, on a narrow strip of rocky land bordering the river.

A duo of hikers to the rescue
On Sunday afternoon, visitors still saw him in this hard-to-reach place. A rescue operation had to be organised, consisting of a climbing specialist abseiling down to put the dog in a harness, before the two of them were hoisted up by other volunteers.
However, around 5:15 p.m. local time and before it could take place, a friend of the owner of the animal announced that the latter had just been recovered unharmed and returned to its master.
2 hikers answering the names of Don Campbell and Collin Woehl came from Louis Falls and managed to reach the dog’s location. They then put a life jacket on him and then walked the reverse route. The canine is in good health.
