The actress’ lawyers have just published a 43-page document in which they deem the evidence against her to be unfounded.
Amber Heard’s lawyers asked last Friday for the reversal of the verdict of her trial against Johnny Depp, reports the British daily The Guardian.
In a 43-page document, the actress’s lawyers also demand the cancellation of the 10 million dollars in damages that she must pay to her ex-husband. They consider the evidence against her to be unfounded.
Amber Heard assures once again in this text that Johnny Depp has never lost his role in the lucrative franchise Pirates of the Caribbean because of his article published in the washington postwhere she accuses him of domestic violence.
Amber Heard also denounces a judgment that is far too harsh towards her. According to her, one of the jurors had not been chosen according to the rules. In an email sent to the specialized site Courthouse News, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Ben Chew, rejected this document:
“It’s exactly what we expected. It’s just longer than expected, and it doesn’t add much.”
A call soon?
Amber Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehott, had indicated at the end of June that her client wished to appeal. The day after the verdict, she indicated that the actress could “absolutely not” pay 10 million in damages to Johnny Depp.
Jurors initially ordered Amber Heard to pay her ex-husband $15 million in damages – reduced to $10.35 million due to a local law capping punitive damages.
Johnny Depp attacked Amber Heard in defamation regarding a column published by the washington post in 2018. The star of Pirates of the Caribbean demanded 50 million dollars in damages, believing that this platform had destroyed his career and his reputation.
