Me David-Olivier Kaminski affirms that his client “was confronted with the factory of lies, the factory of fake news”
“He did his job as a journalist.” Me David-Olivier Kaminski, lawyer for journalist Aziz Zemouri, defended his client this Wednesday on the set of BFMTV while several people were taken into custody in the investigation into the false accusations of the Point targeting Raquel Garrido and Alexis Corbière.
“He was confronted with manipulation,” explained the journalist’s lawyer on our antenna.
“We set up several precise, detailed, circumstantial schemes to make him believe in false information so that he could carry it with his signature and bring it to an important media which has a large circulation which is Point“, he adds.
“He was confronted with the factory of lies”
An article published at the end of June after the legislative elections claimed that the couple of LFI deputies hired a cleaning lady without declaring her, promising to obtain French papers. Accusations immediately denied by those concerned and which ultimately led to the withdrawal of the article in question. Aziz Zemouri was suspended by his editorial staff.
“He was confronted with the factory of lies, with the factory of fake news”, further affirmed Me David-Olivier Kaminski on BFMTV, adding that his client “decided to file a complaint when all this broke out”.
Invited this Wednesday morning to react to the placement in police custody of Jean-Christophe Lagarde who is suspected of having provided false information to Aziz Zemouri, Raquel Garrido denounced the lack of verification work on the part of the journalist. “The weak link in this affair is Aziz Zemouri, who published things which he could very easily verify that they were false. […] He published things knowing that they were false”, declared the deputy LFI this Wednesday morning on BFMTV.
“Madame Garrido is involved in politics and does not deal with a legal file, we do not speak the same language”, replied Aziz Zemouri’s lawyer this Wednesday evening.
“We made a fake to deceive a journalist”
For Me David-Olivier Kaminski, “this case is in reality challenging for two major reasons: we made a fake to deceive a journalist […] If the idea was to influence or even influence universal suffrage, we hit the principle of democracy head on.” However, the lawyer points out that the publication of the article only took place after the second round of legislative which opposed Jean-Christophe Lagarde to Raquel Garrido in the 5th district of Seine-Saint-Denis.
“We charge only the journalist with a responsibility when probably, in reality, the article passed through several hands and was read upstream before being published”, finally concluded the lawyer.
An investigation for “organized gang fraud”, “identity theft” and “forgery and use of forgery” was opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office on June 29. Jean-Christophe Lagarde’s custody continues this Wednesday evening.
