A presence that goes wrong. During the weekend of Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 June, a bullfight was organized in the arenas of Nîmes. For this event, the actress Carole Bouquet was present in the stands to watch the show, as evidenced by a photo posted by La Ligue des Animaux on Twitter this Monday, June 6. A presence that the association immediately denounced. “It is therefore among the list of people endorsing cruelty to animals. Bullfighting must be abolished”, she wrote, adding that “torture is not a culture”.
This publication immediately raised a wave of indignation in the comments. “The old bourgeoisie of the cinema which is displayed in a context which it considers to be cultural. I can’t wait for this cruel and obsolete society to disappear”, “Sad to see this because it struggles with the voice of the child and condones the torture on animals, bad image of education for the child?”, “What horror ….. Shame on her! Having such entertainment …. that says a lot about her personal values”, could we for example read. A few other twittos are still stepped up to defend the actress. “So stop your witch hunt! “, “Actresses have to ask you what public show to go see?”commented some of them.

This is not the first time that The League of Animals has pinned down the behavior of certain celebrities. In April 2022, the association had already pointed out the presence of Rayane Bensetti alongside a bear in a circus. “Rayane Bensetti, what world do you live in to say that attracting a bear with a marshmallow and a life in a cage to be carried around like an object on the roads is a sign of benevolence?”, had she wondered in the caption of a photo of the actor kissing the animal on the mouth in a cage.
