After so many years of service, Rémy Fusaro, experienced and talented restaurateur will soon hang up the apron.
I put it up for sale in 2020, following the Covid crisis which hurt us a lot, but the restaurant is struggling to find a buyer. I notice that young people don’t want to worry anymore. And yet, for those who would like to take over the restaurant, there is a 150% chance of success. He would already leave with a good fund of clientele and the location is a golden one.
Last of a sibling of 4 boys and a girl, Rémy Fusaro has had a brilliant career. He followed his apprenticeship at the hotel school in Semur-en-Auxois (Côte-d’Or) and Pauligny (Jura). There, he met some great teachers.
They gave me a taste for work and allowed me to reveal myself. At 15, I wanted to become independent and take responsibility for not asking my parents for anything. I think I had a lot of luck through my encounters.
In 1987, he moved to the Cité des Thermes with his wife. They took over the place Gambetta and renamed it “Le Cassissier”, in homage to the most cultivated fruit of its native region, Burgundy.
Previously, the restaurant had served as a coaching inn, then a convent, before successively becoming an inn, then a lodge. He undertakes large-scale works: I kept the four walls, then we made the vaults, the openings, the kitchens, the bedrooms and everything was redone”.
We had families who came to celebrate baptisms, communions, engagements and weddings. People also whom we have followed throughout their lives: from the baby to his marriage…
For years, he led his boat accompanied by his wife, Catherine, offering good traditional cuisine.
Today, Rémy Fusaro, 62, wants to hang up the apron to enjoy his retirement with his wife. “The base of the restaurant is good, just needs to be rejuvenated,” he says. Notice to those interested…
