LThe Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca), in agreement with Purina Belgium, warns against Purina Pro Plan Original Kitten cat food (Purina Pro Plan Original Kitten 1 to 12 months, rich in chicken – 3kg; Purina Pro Plan Original Kitten 1 to 12 months, rich in chicken – 10kg).

Purina “found traces of 2-Chloroethanol just above the detection limit in two batches.” “These are traces of a residue from an ingredient from one of Purina’s suppliers. This residue comes from the treatment of industrial water from this supplier. The traces of 2-Chloroethanol in these batches are in very small quantities and do not present any proven risk for the health of the animal”, can we read.

Consumers in possession of these products must take photos, dispose of the products and contact Purina Belgium’s consumer service.
