Celebrating animals, family entertainment at the National Sheepfold

This weekend of June 4 and 5, 2022, it’s Animal Day at the National Sheepfold in Rambouillet! On the program, many animations and demonstrations to live in family with the cows, the hens and the lambs of the farm.

Want a little sweetness this weekend? Come and meet the whole barnyard, the ponies, the sheep and the goats this Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June 2022 and enjoy many animation with the whole family at Rambouillet National Sheepfold. The famous Yvelines farm offers a Sunday morning organic breakfast composed of local products, at the price of 6 euros, to taste on the spot the milk of the herd of dairy cows, directly from the producer to the consumer!

During visits and of workshopschildren will learn everything there is to know about farm animalsand can even approach it and cuddle goats!

On the program on the farmyard side:

  • Advice and sale of barnyard animals
  • Atelier Tempera (paint based on pigments and egg yolk)
  • Scientific workshop in the barnyard: reproduction, the egg, the chick
  • Feeding the hens in the educational chicken coop.
  • Visit and advice “Having chickens at home” and “Choosing your chicken breed”

For draft horses, donkeys and ponies:

  • Lunch carriage at 12 p.m., limited to 12 people (20€/person)
  • Practical initiation to hitching workshop
  • Donkeys and ponies: workshops and events on animal mediation
  • Farrier demonstration all day
  • Exhibition of horse-drawn equipment and vintage cars

On the cow side:

  • Guided tour “Organic Agriculture applied to the dairy herd” and presentation of the circuit from milk to dairy products
  • Demonstration workshop on cow milking
  • Collection of ancient objects on milk
  • Fun and scientific animations: “Milk and dairy products” for young and old by the organizers of the National Sheepfold

On the bee side:

  • Small games for a better knowledge of bees and beekeeping: hive puzzle and bee quiz
  • Visit to the educational apiary: equipment, materials, hive opening, bee observation

On the sheep side:

  • Historical visit: 230 years of history and discovery of Merinos, the emblematic breed of the National Sheepfold, and shearing of a sheep
  • Sales stands and workshops to discover all the steps from shearing to sweater
  • Exhibition on wool: the fibers that dress us
  • Playful, scientific and sensory workshops for children…

On the dog side:

  • Canicourse and canimarche composed of runners and their 4-legged companions in order to raise funds for the association “Erka, never without a roof”
  • Dog village, dog education stand, raffle stand, photo stand and sales stand

On the goat side:

  • Presentation of the herd and feeding
  • Cuddle corner with the goats
