World tennis No.1 Novak Djokovic benefited from an exemption from vaccination against Covid-19 because he had contracted the virus in December, his lawyers estimated in a document filed in court on Saturday.

“The date of the first positive Covid PCR test was recorded as December 16, 2021,” they said in a document filed with federal court, in support of the player’s appeal against the cancellation of his entry visa.

Djokovic’s entry visa to Australia has been canceled on the grounds that he did not meet the strict entry conditions imposed in the context of the fight against Covid-19.

The Australian Tennis Federation has been accused of misleading players about Covid-19 vaccination requirements to enter the country. But his boss boasts, in an internal video that leaked on Saturday, of the “incredible work” of his teams.
