We’ve found the right formula and we’re here to teach you how to live slow and lose weight effectively and quickly! Have you heard of the Cretan diet? Well, it is possible, as it is best known as the Mediterranean diet around the world. However, he is from Crete and we are going to tell you a wonderful story. Make yourself comfortable, have a cup of tea and keep reading!
Once I went to Crete to visit a dear friend. She welcomed me with open arms and made me discover a whole new world! The first thing I noticed while walking around this beautiful island wasn’t just the sparkling sea and azure sky… It was the locals. There were so many happy, healthy people, and many of them were older and still doing all kinds of effortless physical activities. It seemed quite strange to me when I started thinking about the difference between France and Greece.
How was it possible? Why ? I didn’t even have to ask my friend why, I saw it with my own eyes. The key was to eat clean local fruits and vegetables, wholemeal bread, olive oil (yes!) and fish! And besides, to accompany this apparently very simple menu, there was physical activity. I noticed that every person on the island was still walking. (So when you’re in Crete… You know what to do.) For about two months of slow life, filled with laughter and amazing food, I lost my extra pounds. The results were shocking once I did the math. The thing is: I haven’t even been hungry in those two months! My complexes were just a memory and dissipated quite quickly. This is what zero stress and healthy eating do to your body. And until now, I still follow this golden principle. So, without further ado, let’s see what the basics of the Cretan diet are!
Cretan diet: what are the benefits?
Lower cholesterol – It is known to significantly reduce cholesterol levels because it contains less saturated fat and processed sugars.
Reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s – Researchers have found that adopting a Cretan diet slows down certain changes in the brain that can reveal early illnesses.
Contributes to heart health – A healthy diet means a healthy heart. The Cretan diet requires eating less red meat, which has a positive effect on your heart.
Lose weight – Thanks to the balanced diet and healthy food, the healthy mix of good fats, proteins and fibers, you will see how your weight will reduce without the slightest effort.
Helps memory and concentration – In the brain, refined sugar impairs both our cognitive abilities and our self-control. For many people, consuming a little sugar stimulates the desire to consume more, which triggers a vicious cycle called “binge eating”.
