In 2017, the tourist office of Les Sables-d’Olonne joined the national club of Toutourisme. The objective: to attract tourists who come with their dogs. But are they really? You were asked the question.

“Yes, but not 100%. The only thing I could fault the town of Les Sables-d’Olonne for is access to the beach. I know it’s forbidden for dogs for hygiene reasons but it’s a great playground for them. In the evening, when there aren’t too many people, I can let it go without a problem, but during the day, it’s not possible and that’s a shame. That’s really the only complaint I have. Otherwise, for the rest, everything is nickel. »

” Yes and no. The principle of touring is very good. On the other hand, we have a superb beach and there is no way to put Shiva’s paws in the water. So we were attracted by the principle of toutourisme but disappointed once we arrived. I’m also disappointed because we didn’t have access to certain buildings we wanted to visit… We were asked to leave the dog tied outside. For animal welfare, it’s not great. »

” Yes. I’m only there for the day but it’s very pleasant to walk on the Embankment. I can’t go down to the beach and that’s the only criticism I have. Otherwise, I just left the restaurant and everything was fine. They accepted Romy without any problem and it’s very pleasant because some have already refused me. They did not accept dogs. But, if the dogs are well educated, I don’t see where the problem is. »

“Yes from October 1 to April 1 and not during the summer period. I come to Les Sables on different dates and when you have access to the beach with the dog, it’s nice. But in the summer, I admit it’s a bit more complicated, especially for Pam who doesn’t understand why she has to stay in the dog carrier when I’m going to soak my feet. When the tide is low, they might let us go, especially since dogs aren’t dirtier than humans. »

” Yes. There is everything you need around, I have no complaints. There’s the groomer, the veterinarian, the dog trainer… With Nina, I go everywhere. I just have to remember to take the small poop bag. If I forget it, I can easily find it on the street. I’ve been coming here for several years and I’m happy. I’m even looking for a year-round rental. I know that Nina will be able to accompany me everywhere. In cafes and restaurants, I never had a problem. »

” Yes and no. Because dogs are not allowed on the beach. To go to the restaurant, we had no problem. We went everywhere and everyone was very welcoming. What’s also good is that there are poop bags everywhere. In some cities, it’s impossible to find one, but here it’s relatively simple. »
