La Canopee, here is the name of the new rooftop terrace which is installed on the roof of the Beffroi de Montrouge at the gates of Paris. A giant vegetated and festive terrace with DJ sets that offers a nice affordable fusion catering menu, that’s what you can have a good time.
In search of a new trendy rooftop terrace where life is good ? Direction Montrouge and in particular the Belfry of Montrougeaccessible by metro via line 4, to discover The Canopy.
We climb to the top of the huge roof of the Belfry to discover a terrace of 450 m2 which is transformed into a third place to accommodate animation, restaurant and festive program. Last summer: the mayor of Montrouge, Étienne Lengereau, expressed the wish to create a festive and multicultural seasonal space on the roof of the Belfry, this already emblematic cultural center in Montrouge.
In barely two months, the project was set up and a XXL terrace at the atmosphere lively and friendly awaits you now from June 3, 2022. On site, we discover a rooftop modern with umbrellas in the shape of trees and many tables and lounges in pallets (135 seats) to rest. The jasmines that climb along the pillars come to tickle our nostrils. HASith more than 25 species of shrubs and aromatic plants, which are also used in the kitchen, the place is welcoming and green.
On each side of the large terrace, colossi made by the artist Julien Vignaud are watching and if you look up a little, you will see the artist Stoul creating a fresco in live painting.
The Canopy offers us for lunch and dinner, a gourmet fusion menu, healthy, local and affordable, imagined by the Chef Franco-Tunisian, Ahlem Nguili, member of the Toques Françaises and referent for the Ducasse group in North Africa. Imagine an explosive marriage of traditional Tunisian cuisine and Breton flavors where the chef did her schooling, a cuisine Franco-Tunisian which should wake up your taste buds.
At lunch, head out to discover the vegetarian Mediterranean dish based on hummus, grilled poultry with Bo Bun satay, or a salmon gravlax with hibiscus (from €9.90 to €10.90). Meat and fish lovers won’t want to miss the tender 7-hour beef or the marinated mackerel (€14.90) and vegetarians will opt for the pea Royale with mint and parmesan (€13.90).
At dinner, The evening come, we leave room for boards and to tapas ! We thus discover the Iodée (squid with caraway, shrimps with Panko, grilled octopus with smoked paprika, Mackerel with sumac), the Meat (skewer of chicken with saté, minced flank steak with thyme, pearls of ground beef with spices, duck samosa and strong meat juice), La Champêtre vegetarian (zucchini, carrots, peppers, cherry tomatoes, Halloumi, curry corn, spring roll with vegetables, falafel and hummus with figs) or La Serrano (ham, parmesan shavings, arugula and candied dried tomatoes) from €17.90 to €19.90. But that’s not all, since a selection of boas ranging from shredded beef to chatchouka tuna and grilled halloumi with zaatar is on the menu. Count 15€ for 2 baos and €24.90 for the 4.
As for sweets, La Canopéé offers you Montrouge Opera Tartlet (an intense chocolate shortbread dessert with gourmet notes of coffee) and Oriental favorite (creamy with geranium water, crunchy pistachio and hibiscus reduction or the quirky Tropical Mille-feuille with lime, coconut and roasted pineapple with vanilla). Count between €7.50 to €8.50 for dessert.
Outraged food is a nice festive program orchestrated by professionals of the Parisian night that awaits you. Over to you open stage Tuesday evenings, DJ sets Wednesday to Sunday (groovy and funky on Wednesday evenings, house and deep house on Thursdays and guests on Fridays). Sundays will be, from June 19, devoted to musical brunches and led by Sab Adnane (ex disco bitch)! Suffice to say that it will dance on this rooftop! Note that some workshops mixed, of kitchen and of paint on sneakers are also on the program for a new hop spot.
