Mantes-la-Jolie: lawyer and writer, François Gerber storming the city

“Francis? He is crazy, big mouth but endearing. François Gerber has never left anyone indifferent. And the partial municipal election of May 15 and 22 in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) in which he is running will not change him. The 63-year-old lawyer presents himself at the head of “For you, for Mantes”, a list without labels.

He had been left as an opposition municipal councilor in Les Mureaux (2008-2014), after being elected in Mantes-la-Jolie in the camp of Paul Picard, the former socialist mayor. In the meantime, there has been the bar, some resounding trials and about fifteen books, including a very remarkable biography of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry as well as works on Mantes-la-Jolie.

So here he is back in the political arena in the city where this father of four lives. On campaign posters, he appears with Ali El Abdi, former deputy in charge of finance between 2014 and 2017.

“Our list is that of competence. Ali is a merchant from Val-Fourré who has succeeded in his business, says François Gerber. And it’s the same at all levels. We have women entrepreneurs, community leaders, people on the left, people on the right. We all have in common competence in our respective fields and rigor in behavior. With us, there will be no probity problem. »

Among the main projects carried by the candidate and his running mate are the construction of a new “and beautiful” school in the Gassicourt district and the purchase of a building in the mountains intended to accommodate children in summer camp.

This amateur beekeeper also wants to encourage environmental awareness by setting up classrooms at the educational farm. “The children would come there a few hours a week in turn,” he says. Finally, for the cultural component, he intends to “create a cultural center on the Dunlopillo site” where a “real” skatepark would also be built.
