Mouscron loses his license and leaves the professional world

This Tuesday, the Belgian Center for Arbitration in the Sports Sector confirmed the decision of the Licensing Commission which refused to issue its professional license to Royal Excel Mouscron. The club, which belongs to the president of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Gérard Lopez, therefore leaves the world of professional football and is administratively relegated to D2 ACFF, the Belgian fourth division.

The Commission found that the club was in breach of its wage, social and tax obligations and that it had provided false documents to obtain previous licenses. Especially since the extremely precarious financial situation of Mouscron, which finished 7th in the D1B Pro League (Belgian D2) this season, could lead the club to file for bankruptcy in the days to come.
