Near Toulouse. The Château de la Garrigue recruits chef Bernard Bach and aims for its first star

He changes stove. Leader Bernard Bachtwo stars in the Michelin guide, recently took the reins of the Restaurant L’Altofrom Chateau de la Garriguein Villemur-sur-Tarn, near Toulouse.

A new piano for this gourmet soloist who until now played an admirable gourmet score at the Scallop Well in Pujaudran (Gers) where he won his second star in 1999, after being honored for the first time during his stay at the “Belvédère” in Porto Vecchio in 1997.

Consultant since 2018

This transfer will not surprise the finest gourmets and observers since Bernard Bach was already in close contact with the brigade of the restaurant L’Alto and the owner of the Château de la Garrigue, the businessman Zeid Hassim.

“Very soon after the opening of the Alto, Bernard became our consultant and helped our brigade to develop its menus and, of course, to move upmarket”, recalls Zeid Hassim. “Bernard, and it is to his credit, wanted to ensure his succession to the Puits Saint-Jacques before emphasizing his commitment to us”.

This is how he passed the Then Saint-Jacques to his second, William Candelon, and accompanied the young chef during the last two years.

“We hope for our first star in 2023”

Now fully dedicated to the restaurant L’Alto and able to rely on his talented second Mourad OuabdeslamBernard Bach aims high and does everything to satisfy the ambitions of the Château de la Garrigue and its owner Zeid Hassim.

The Alto restaurant opened in 2018 and since then our team has been working very hard. Thanks to the talent of Bernard Bach, we hope to earn our first star in 2023.

The restaurant L’Alto occupies an “L” space with an area of ​​170 m² on the first floor of the Château de la Garrigue. A majestic setting offering a ceiling height of 4 meters and revealing all the beauty of the old ceremonial rooms of the castle. The restaurant can accommodate 45 covers. Built this spring, a terrace opens this summer and will therefore allow outdoor dining.
