Moroccan internet users on Friday called on the authorities to prosecute a woman who posted a video in which she incited her dog to kill a kitten shown lifeless and dragged by the neck at the end of the recording.

The video went viral and caused an uproar on social media. We hear a woman pushing her dog to kill a kitten: “It’s ugly, you don’t want it, do you? I don’t want it either, I don’t like it”. Then we see the small inanimate animal dragged by the neck by his dog. “You killed him, you don’t know where to start (to eat the kitten)?” she said.

According to local media, the video was posted by this young Moroccan woman on her Instagram account. It was filmed in the city of Fez (center).

“Prison for the Cat Killer”

The hashtag ‘Jail for the cat killer’ has gone viral on social media over the past two days, with many netizens calling for the woman to be sued.

“When are we going to start enforcing the law against those who torture animals?” Asked a user on Twitter. The Moroccan Penal Code punishes “anyone who, without necessity, kills or mutilates (…) any domestic animal” with a prison sentence of two to six months.
