Noémie Beauchemin was found guilty last May of 17 counts in relation to actions taken in January 2021, barely six months after being called to the Bar.
As part of a support review hearing before the Superior Court, the lawyer sent the opposing party a series of false documents, before producing them in court. She also encouraged her client to transmit false information to the court and to her employer, in addition to asking her to destroy their communications.
Made aware of these allegations, Noémie Beauchemin’s superior fired her in March 2021 and asked the Syndic’s Office to open an investigation. A disciplinary complaint was filed in July 2021. Five days later, the lawyer resigned from the board of the professional order.
“The offenses are numerous and organized”
In its judgment on the sanction, the Disciplinary Council considers that Noémie Beauchemin has directly undermined the integrity and the profession. It is also noted that
it is not an isolated act, since the offenses are numerous and organized.
