We fell in love with this magnificent building in an exceptional setting of tranquility and greenery.
On site, some 500 m² of buildings are aligned on a plot of 4,000 m2. An establishment which had its heyday under the leadership of its founders, Jean and Sigrid Faure (see box). A big potential for Anita and Donatien Celia who, beyond the rebirth of the hotel and the restaurant, want to create a bar, “thanks to an IV license that can be obtained by setting up a file with the town hall, says Anita Celia. This is the part that we could open the fastest in January 2023, by adding a terrace for next spring”. With the aim of opening the restaurant in September 2023 then the hotel in September 2024. Where ten rooms are to be renovated “and a room for people with reduced mobility to be created on the ground floor if possible. » As a result, four or five jobs could be created: one or two cooks, a waitress and two chambermaids.
An ambitious project for Anita Celia, 38, in professional retraining, who wants to leave the workforce after working in insurance, “with an experience of extras in tea rooms”, whose husband, a carpentry costing software editor, can work anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. But especially green. “Because we live in a small town which is urbanizing very quickly next to Rouen and we want to get away from traffic jams! » In Saint-Groux, we are not there yet.
The first returns are in any case positive for the couple who sent 150 to 200 emails to companies and associations in Saint-Groux and the surrounding area, as far as Ruffec or Saint-Amant-de-Boixe. “A questionnaire to assess local people’s interest in a new bar-hotel-restaurant offer in Saint-Grouxexplains Anita Celia, who has launched a parallel crowdfunding campaign on the kisskissbankbank platform, where donors can win a cocktail or a hotel night. More to let us know and show that the project is feasible. »
41 years of intense activities
If there is one who is delighted to see the project to take over the hotel-restaurant Les Trois Saules, it is Sigrid Faure, currently mayor of Saint-Groux, who created the establishment with her husband Jean in 1971 in the buildings of his parents-in-law who had themselves run the former Fishermen’s Café there, which closed in 1958. “We had created the restaurant there in 1971 in an old barn and built a hotel in 1974 in the continuityremembers Sigrid Faure who, with her now deceased husband, ran the establishment for 41 years. We received boarders from all over France who sometimes came for a fortnight on vacation, not to mention the business meals at the Leroy Somer factory next door and many weddings. We were in the Logis de France and the Michelin Guide, taking advantage of an exceptional setting: it’s a little corner of paradise here. » Closed and put up for sale since their retirement ten years ago, the establishment has yet to find a buyer. “We had several takeover projects but unfortunately all of them failed, admits Sigrid Faure, who is delighted with Anita Celia’s project in this charming village which no longer has any shops. On the other hand, we have a lot of walkers on weekends and even during the week, even more since confinement. »
