Stray cat befriends 2 indoor cats and decides to make their home his own

Maurice was what is called a street cat. His dirty coat and his thinness attested to it. But nothing was final, because he knew how to ask for help and got it. Today, he lives like a king with his 2 congeners.

Valerie May is the proud owner of Fifi and Muggsy, 2 alley cats who have a good life. In 2021, during a gardening session, Valerie saw 2 round eyes watching him. It was about Mauritiusshy and frightened, who finally dared to point the tip of his nose.

Valerie also noticed that the tomcat was very interested in Fifi and Muggsy he was watching carefully from behind the door. “He started spending a lot of time chirping through the mosquito net. My kittens seemed intrigued by him, but not at all threatened or territorial”said Valerie at The Dodo.

Neighborhood survey

The young woman went in search of information on this stray cat. She questioned the residents of the neighborhood to find out where he was from, how long he had been prowling around, etc.

Unfortunately, no one knew his story and Mauritius was still difficult to approach.

After a few months, Valerie managed to gain his trust. She was therefore able to take him to the veterinarian for a control visit which would perhaps solve the mystery thanks to an electronic chip, in vain.

This lack of information reinforced her desire to adopt him. She therefore opened her door to him and the tomcat decided to make a place for himself in this new warm environment.

“He sleeps in the house, sometimes on the bed, and hangs out with Fifi and Muggsy, in their enclosed and secure garden. He seems so happy to be with us”told Valerie.

Since then, Mauritius turned into a real indoor cat. His greasy and tangled coat has metamorphosed thanks to his new living conditions (regular brushing and adapted food).

“We are so happy to give him what he has wanted and needed for so long. No animal should be so alone. We can’t wait to see his personality develop as he feels more confident and secure.”concluded Valerie.
