The Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA) of Quebec will absorb the adoption fees for several cats on June 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing animal lovers to adopt a feline companion for free.
As July 1 approaches, the SPA is experiencing a sharp rise in the animal abandonment rate and therefore finds itself with a surplus of cats.
To remedy the situation, the organization announced on its Facebook page that it will absorb the adoption fees for many felines next Tuesday and Wednesday. All cats will therefore be sterilized, microchipped, dewormed and vaccinated.
“The SPA will take a loss of approximately $10,000 to save the lives of these animals,” the organization said.
The two days will take place without an appointment. Each adopter may adopt only one pet. The usual SPA adoption criteria will apply. Please note that the event could end prematurely if all the cats are adopted.
Adopters are also invited to contribute voluntarily by offering a donation.
