The shareholder files a complaint for defamation against the CGT lawyer

This Wednesday, the shareholder of Camaïeu filed a complaint for defamation against the CGT lawyer, accusing him of “completely false” remarks that provoked possible liquidation exits at the expense of the company that was put into liquidation.

The complaint, with a civil action for defamation of a person, was filed in the Paris court. It is aimed at master Fiodor Rilov, for remarks made on Tuesday during a general meeting at the convocation of the CGT at the headquarters of Camaïeu in Roubaix, quoted by various media, specified for shareholder master Baptiste de Fresse de Monval.

“Unfounded” remarks

These “comments undermine the honor and respect of the HPB group”, said Hermione People and Brands, a subsidiary of Financière immobilière bordelaise (FIB), which had taken over Camaïeu in 2020, the lawyer said. “Totally baseless and false, they fall under the law of libel,” he added.

Master Rilov had proposed to the employees to initiate a procedure against HPB, in particular to find traces “of all transactions involving the transfer of funds between Camaïeu and other companies in the group”.

HPB incriminates two judgments which would then have been handed down by Me Rilov. According to the shareholder, he would have confirmed that “it is not excluded that funds were taken that were no longer in the company”. He would also have indicated that the procedure he wants to launch is aimed at “knowing the operations that have drained the cash”.

“An attempt to divert attention”

“No company in the group or shareholder has benefited from funds from Camaïeu,” declared the president of HPB, Wilhelm Hubner, on Wednesday. This complaint constitutes “an attempt to divert attention”, Mr Rilov responded, declaring his determination to “quickly initiate” the legal actions presented to the employees. He claimed not to have been notified of the complaint immediately and indicated he would not hesitate to file a complaint for “defamatory dismissal”.

Regarding the case: “I note that the employees are convinced that a certain number of abnormal operations have taken place, it is necessary to seek […] whose abnormal economic operations were organized and if they contributed to the collapse of Camaïeu”, he added.
