The trial of the “false lawyer” of Montargis was to be held this Wednesday, January 5. Due to the absence of the president of the court, ill, the audience, like all the other cases on the list of the day, was returned.
Arrested at the beginning of December 2021 in the north of France, Okan Gündüz, 54 years old and already sentenced in March 2021 in Montargis then in July on appeal in Orléans, was to be tried in appearance at a later date.
The 50-year-old, currently detained, appeared this Wednesday by videoconference and listened, impassive, to the reminder of the facts for which he has already been convicted many times and for which he will appear again on January 28.

Twenty mentions were indeed entered in his criminal record between 1991 and 2017, for acts of fraud, forgery and use of forgery, but also for usurpation of the title of lawyer, on several occasions. For these facts, the man spent long periods in detention, reiterating the facts upon its release, as it did last July.
Okan Gündüz said that he did not recognize himself in this long list of condemnations: “I was an entrepreneur at that time, I had ups and downs…I’m embarrassed…that I did this.”

And his address on avenue De-Gaulle, where he received his “clients”? “A place where I intended to create an association”, he said, laconic. As for his activities after his release from detention in July 2021: “I was looking for a job.”
Pressure on victims and witnesses
The deputy prosecutor, Cécile Diard, called for continued detention, the risk of repetition of the facts being proven, as indicated in a psychiatric expert report which concludes with mythomania. She also mentioned “pressure on victims and witnesses”, to whom the alleged lawyer would have sent SMS.
The court went in the same direction and pronounced the continued detention considering in particular that guarantees of representation were not sufficient.
