This Woman Didn’t Know Which Dog To Save So She Bought The Whole Shelter

Danielle Eden, co-founder of Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary, has visited countless animal shelters around the world, often bringing a couple of dogs in the most desperate of circumstances to the 50-acre property in King, Ontario, Canada. But she was unprepared for what awaited her at a shelter she visited in Israel, where all the dogs were in terrible condition.

Clare Forndran, Media Director for Dog Tales, said :

“This is the worst shelter I have ever seen. »

More than 250 dogs were crammed into a space intended for only 70. Rats abound, dead and alive.

She didn’t know which dog to save and bought the shelter.

Many dogs had spent years there, every piece of bread thrown into a kennel was an invitation to fight.

Clare Forndran explains as follows:

“The dogs were literally fighting over a piece of bread. There were more rats than dogs. »

Once she considered the heartbreaking scene, Danielle couldn’t decide which dogs would have a chance at a new life in Canada. They all lived the same misery. Danielle therefore decided to buy the entire shelter.

Dog Tales has since taken responsibility for the 250 dogs, and in the past few months they have managed to relocate 90 of them to Israel itself, 25 have made the trip to the sanctuary in Ontario, and 150 are still there. But the shelter is being transformed thanks to a team in Israel tasked with making the place habitable, while veterinarians provide medical care for the animals.

The goal is to bring them all to Canada, and this mission is off to a promising start. Of the first 25 dogs to arrive, more than half have been adopted and are learning to trust again. Now people need to start adopting the dogs.
