TOP 5 bars and restaurants with a garden

Freed, delivered. Here is the first spring for 2 years where we are not locked up. But I know you’re not here to make rhymes, you’re here because finding THE spot where to have a drink on the terrace in a bucolic setting has become your favorite sport.

But since you have less sporting soul than the CityCrunch team, we trained for you, our favorite discipline (soon the Olympics!). Here is our top 5 bars and restaurants with a garden or a courtyard, to get drunk while clearing your head and skin.

1 – 27 Madeleine

At 27 Madeleine, elbow lifting is not the only sport practiced. In place of a former bowling club, this bar-restaurant in the 7th arrondissement has a courtyard with a beautiful shaded terrace and 4 pétanque courts. Yes yes, you read that right.
Here, we attack the aperitif with pastis or Spritz, which we decorate with platters to share. When the hunger is appeased and the spirits sufficiently heated, we move on to serious things: pétanque. If you don’t like shooting or pointing, you can fall back on the dartboards available. In short, the 27 Madeleine is the laid-back HQ in the southern version, to be tested urgently to have the impression of already being on vacation.

❤️ We like it: the pétanque weekend brunch

🏠 27 rue de la Madeleine, 69007 Lyon
⏰ Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2 – The Moment

A few steps from Vaise station, Le Moment hides its game well. From the street, behind this red brick facade, you can’t imagine that behind the restaurant is a veranda opening onto a green interior courtyard. .
We sit in the shade under the central tree, the bartender prepares a cocktail for us in his hut bar and we completely forget that we are in the heart of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon. On the plates, place to a bistro menu, regularly renewed. In the glasses, the fine selection of wines should satisfy every palate.
In this cocoon of greenery, time seems suspended and we actually enjoy the moment on this secret patio-like terrace.

❤️ We like: The cozy and heated veranda to enjoy an inside-outside in case of bad weather

🏠 33 rue de Saint-Cyr, 69009 Lyon
⏰ Monday-Friday, noon and evening

3 – The Pencil Sharpener

Heaven on earth may well be in Villeurbanne, behind the walls of this pretty red house.
Le Taille-Crayon is a friendly address with multiple identities: bar, restaurant, event venue, with a (very) large garden. On this one, ping-pong tables, pétanque courts and a playground for children. Perfect, parents can let go of the beasts on the swings and have a drink in peace (we believe it). In the kitchen, the products are exclusively from the region and in season. The menu is short but effective, with very gourmet and homemade specialties.
Finally, the shaded terrace and the guinguette atmosphere promise beautiful summer evenings in perspective.

❤️ We love: the many events every week (concerts, open stages, DJ sets, shows, workshops…).

🏠 21 rue Flachet, 69100 Villeurbanne
⏰ Monday-Friday 12 p.m.-1 a.m., Saturday 4:30 p.m.-1 a.m., Sunday 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

4 – The Blue House

It was in Jean Jaurès that we unearthed this hidden nugget that is the Blue House.
Behind its walls (so blue), a pretty intimate and colorful courtyard offers a haven of peace amidst the greyness of the buildings. Here, every hour has its own atmosphere. We go there in the morning for a coffee in the sun, at noon for lunch away from the urban madness and after work for a happy hour aperitif. On the snack side, in the evening, we opt for the charcuterie and cheese boards from the region, an effective combo to mop up the pints of craft beers.
As a bonus, board games are available to extend the evening in a friendly atmosphere.

❤️ We love: the selection of local beers and the very happy Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

🏠 24 rue Croix-Barret, 69007 Lyon
⏰ Monday-Friday 8am-1am, Saturday 2pm-1am.

5 – Beeristan

If I tell you craft and local beer bar, flammekueches, large garden and Villeurbanne, will you answer me? Bieristan, or the unmissable temple dedicated to hop aficionados.
A stone’s throw from the Gratte-Ciel metro station, the place is definitely worth a visit, with its slew of draft beers from nearby breweries and its garden terrace with a Berlin beer garden atmosphere. In summer, come early to take advantage of a seat outside and also keep an eye on the calendar of events so as not to miss the concerts, openings and DJ sets, perfect in this industrial wasteland setting.

❤️ We love: the flammekueches cooked over a wood fire, to share or not

🏠 14 rue Paul Lafargue, 69100 Villeurbanne
⏰ Tuesday-Saturday, 12 p.m.-1 a.m.,
