Xavier Albertini, tax lawyer, deputy mayor of Reims and new deputy for the 1st district of Marne

Born in Royan (Charente-Maritime), to a senior army officer father and a commercial director mother, this rugby fan arrived in 1989 in the coronation city for his studies. In 1992, he obtained a business degree, before continuing his law studies. In 1998 he began his career as a lawyer.

This former vice-president of the Grand Est regional council (2015-2021), who in 2014 regained the post of deputy mayor of Reims, which he held from 2001 to 2008, was also a parliamentary assistant for two years to the deputy RPR Jean-Claude Etienne. He distanced himself in 2017 from the UMP, which he had joined when it was created, in particular in reaction to the “Fillon affair”.

Now a member of Édouard Philippe’s Horizons party, he calls himself “center right”, “social, liberal and humanist”. Deputy mayor of Reims in charge of security, he will have to resign from his mandate to join the benches of the Palais Bourbon.
